2006 Breakfast with Santa Fun for All

Breakfast with Santa was the perfect closing event for another great year. Members, their children and grandchildren celebrated the holiday season at Continental Country Club on December 9. While waiting for Santa to arrive a cuddly red-nosed reindeer and a huggable snowman greeted the families while the NAU carolers entertained with songs of the season. Patrick Bohanan helped set the mood with his piano renditions of treasured tunes.

Santa arrived amid much excitement to introduce himself to the parents and kids before settling in for some serious conversations about special gift requests.

This year, as in the past, our guest opened their hearts to the less fortunate in Flagstaff by participating in raffles with the proceeds going to the Flagstaff Family Food Center. A variety of table-top raffle prizes were available including a Sugar Plum Fairy and Silly Santa Tabletop trees, a baking basket with cookie mix and cookie cutters, snuggly teddy bears, and a basket of quiet time toys.

In addition to the table top raffle prizes tickets were sold between Thanksgiving and the Breakfast with Santa for a decorated and ready to plant Colorado Spruce tree. The Todd Flores family happily loaded the roly-poly little tree into the back of Todd's truck to take it home for the holidays.

Our sincere thanks go to the families and individuals who contributed food items and purchased raffle tickets. The week following the event, General Manager Dave Evans presented the Flagstaff Family Food Center with several bags of food items and over $600.00 in contributions from our members and guests. Pam Eddleman, Executive Director of the food center, extended a hearty thank you to everyone for their generosity and a very happy New Year.

We would also like to thank the students of Northland Preparatory High School for giving up their Saturday morning to act on the behalf of Santa's elves (you know those guys busy making toys for the late night December 25 delivery). They guided the reindeer and snowman around to greet the kids, and helped getting a place in line for any of the little ones who wanted to visit with Santa. Our day wouldn't have been complete without the NAU carolers and Patrick Bohanan to share their musical talents….and of course we can't forget the "Guest of Honor-Santa" arranged for by Bill Grieb, and Shirley Grieb and the friends of the Flagstaff Assistant League.
