Course Improvements

It has been 10 years since the homeowners purchased Continental Country Club from the developer. In the course of those 10 years we have attempted to improve the golf course a little bit each year. Improvements came slowly in the first years of our ownership as we were in the process of paying off the debt incurred from the purchase. Still, during those years we managed some improvements to the course and even more since retiring that debt in 1999. I have compiled the following list of some of the projects that we have completed since purchasing the course.

Reconfigured and expanded the tee box on #1
Remodeled the green on #3 (the first attempt), and built a new green on #3
Built new tee boxes on #6
Rebuilt the bunkers on hole #8
Built a new bunker on #11
Rebuilt the greenside bunker on #12
Expanded the tee box on #13
Built a new tee box on #15, added three new bunkers on #15
Rebuilt one of the greenside bunkers on #16
Relocated and built new tee boxes on #17
Built three new greenside bunkers on #18
We tore down the old pro shop, which many of us remember was a ramshackle old building with a scarcity of bathrooms and an overabundance of resident skunks. We remodeled the old Sandtrap Lounge and the Fairfield room into a new pro shop, new lounge/dining area, and restrooms.
Built a new practice putting green

Installed a new state of the art irrigation system. It is this irrigation system, which is the real cause for excitement among the staff at Continental CC, as it will allow us to take our golf course to the next level. In previous years, much of the time and effort of our maintenance crew was taken up in just trying to keep the old irrigation system operating so that we could grow grass. I am confident that those of you who have had an opportunity to play the golf course this season have already noticed the improvement in the condition of the greens and fairways. The improvement in the condition of our course will continue as we devote our future efforts to address those problem areas that the inadequacies of the old irrigation system would not allow us to correct.
